Again I apologize for the lack of posts but my internet connectivity is decreased.
Next spring, I will join a host of other young and experienced historians in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania for the Gettysburg College’s Civil War Institute Conference from March 14-16, 2013.
The objective is to “make the Civil War past more engaging, more accessible, and more usable to public audiences as we look beyond the 150th commemorations and to the future of Civil War history.”
Yet, I will say that as most of the Civil War’s 150th is still to come after March 2013 and with some level of attention being paid to the 150th by the public; we can make the Civil War engaging and accessible DURING 150th and beyond.
I am looking forward to working with friends and meeting new people. I encourage any of you who are interested in this era to attend as well.
Thanks to Pete Carmichael for asking me to present.
